Kate's Racing Journey
Aged 12, watching YouTube videos drew Kate to motocross. A 1-to-1 lesson at London’s Docklands Riders had her hooked, and it wasn’t long before she had her own bike and was riding every weekend.
Docklands Riders’ owner Chris Salt soon had Kate helping teach adults and children to ride, and that’s where Kate found her passion for teaching, helping and encouraging others.
Within a year, Kate rebuilt her first motorbike after buying two broken bikes off Gumtree for £150. One came with an Aldi bag full of engine bits. VC London were so impressed with Kate’s motorbike restoration that they asked her to exhibit it at an exhibition at House of Vans in London.
Since then, stripping and rebuilding engines has become a natural, enjoyable and therapeutic thing for Kate. Her love of mechanics led to work experience at Buckmore Park as a Sodi mechanic.
After five years of motocross, enduro and trials, Kate asked her Dad if she could do ‘real’ karting. Aged 17, Senior Rotax was the only option available, so Kate did her ARKS test on her 18th birthday, and went straight into the Medway Valley Kart Club’s Senior Rotax championship at Buckmore. She astonished the club’s owner by coming 3rd in the championship even though she was still a novice.
A gap year between school and university allowed Kate to race Senior Rotax every weekend, taking part in club and national championships around the country.
After a spectacular result in Racing Women's global competition, Kate is transitioning to car racing as a driver in Racing Women's 2026 Radical team.
